"Jack" Hayes

Jack Hayes - photo 1.jpgMr. "Jack" Hayes brings to LOADTEST, Inc. more than forty years of geotechnical engineering consulting experience acquired in Canada, Africa and the United States. Early in his career, he worked for H.G. Acres and R.M. Hardy Associates, engaged in the foundation design of earth dams, harbor facilities, multi-story buildings and railway roadbeds. He acquired considerable construction experience while working for Raymond International on two large projects in West Africa. As Materials Engineer for these projects, he exercised control over geotechnical matters in the construction of 180 miles of railroad and harbor facilities for the transportation of iron ore. The second project involved the construction of earth dams and a concrete powerhouse and spillway.

As a consulting engineer, John carried out geotechnical investigations for over 4,000 projects. Among those projects were several multi-span river crossings, over 250 small to medium bridge sites, numerous slope stability analyses, several major industrial plant sites, over 800 miles of road construction, sewage treatment plant sites, sewer and water projects, lakeshore water intakes, subdivision development, containment assessments and hydro geological studies.

Mr. Hayes, one of the founders and first president of Loadtest Inc., has helped to develop the deep foundation test capabilities of the company in the United States and abroad. He has involved himself with all technical aspects of Osterberg Cell load testing including administration, project development, specification, field assembly and installation, instrumentation, testing, analysis and reporting. Loadtest, Inc. has carried out close to 1000 Osterberg Cell bi-directional load tests during his tenure.

A graduate of Queens University, Kingston with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering, Mr. Hayes continued post graduate studies in soil mechanics in London, England where he obtained his D.I.C. from Imperial College in 1962. He is a registered Professional Engineer.
