Conventional Lateral Testing

Static lateral testing of shafts and piles are performed using state of the art data acquisition equipment to produce accurate P-y curves. (See also under Top-Down Testing).

The monitoring of the movement of the test pile and/or anchor pile(s) can be simutaneously recorded together with data from other sensors such as pressure cells, inclinometer strings or even vertical loading.

The adjacent picture shows a combined vertical and lateral loading test in progress in which the test pile has been fitted with strain gauges, pressure cells and an inclinometer string and the resulting measurements are simultaneously displayed and recorded.
