The WYNN- Las Vegas, Nevada

SunlitExterior.jpgThe demolition of the famous Desert Inn made way for the luxurious Wynn Las Vegas, a $2.7 billion luxury hotel and destination casino resort located on the Las Vegas Strip. The Wynn officially opened to the public on April 28, 2005. Two (2) 48 inch (1220 mm) diameter dedicated test shafts were constructed by Anderson Drilling, to depths exceeding +120 feet (36.6m). The subsurface stratigraphy consisted of clayey sand and gravelly sandy clay with intermittent Caliche layers of varying thicknesses. The O-cell for the profile test shaft was placed approximately halfway along the shaft to isolate the side shear values of the design. The testing confirmed that almost all of the working load could be supported in the upper half of the shaft with little displacementLOADTEST carried out the tests in March 2001. The maximum applied load to the profile shaft was 10950 kips (48.7 MN). (please see profile for statistics)
